You will accomplish several tasks with this first assignment in the course. The first task is to introduce yourself to NCU’s Instructional Design Community of Practice (ID CoP) located in the NCU Commons if you haven’t already done so. The link is available in this week’s resources. In doing so, you will begin or extend your own community of practice and support from your peers. Almost everything is more fun when you are joined by a friend. Whether you meet NCU students who live around the world or around the corner, you will find that they have different perspectives borne from their own lived experiences. Your neighbors near and far will help you develop and hone your understanding and application of diversity, equity, and inclusion through design. You will also explore your own motivation for engaging in your degree program. What brought you back to school? Is your return [to school] related to any economic, employment, educational, or other trends you have noticed? Whatever the degree program in which you are engaged, and whatever you already know or don’t know about ID, connecting with other educators and designers is a good idea. Read the introductions of others in this community; what similarities and differences do you see? Follow these steps to complete and submit your assignment: If you have trouble posting your reply, you may need to “Join” the ID CoP group. You can find additional help at the bottom of any page in the Commons; a link to this help page is included in this week’s resources.
