I am a Research Intern and need guidance on properly researching a significant project. I am looking for assistance from an expert in colonial Spanish history.
I have been directed to use Laflorida.org for my research since it seems that very few have conducted studies on this platform.
Please explore all available records comprehensively, keeping well-organized notes. I need all your work and ideas summarized and detailed clearly.
I recently discovered something peculiar: while exploring the baptism records, I clicked on Filters and found documents categorized under China and Of Asian descent, which surprised me. Additionally, I noticed that most Asian females were named Maria and lacked surnames or personal information. I suspect this may be because they couldnt speak Spanish at the time and were consequently named Maria.
Enter the Virtual Archive to access almost 8,000 high-resolution images of original documents from the Diocesan Archives of St. Augustine, Florida. Each page is accompanied by a complete transcription and English-language translation.

USE THE FILTER TAB at the top to limit/refine search
Look at this example: https://laflorida.org/#/enter-the-archive-visor/3944
You can see the record, the transcription in Spanish, and the translation in English.
There is almost NO research done on this archive
so any information you can find will be very insightful. These materials are very rich
I would recommend you look at either the baptism and/or marriage records.
