Grade Source Notes (50% + 50%)
A+ Excellent ? source meets acceptability criteria; is clearly relevant to the Report ? suggests close reading and relatively thoughful examination of the source; can essentially replace the original source ? all sections are complete; elaborations and explanations are provided where necessary (e.g., for evaluations) ? summary notes conform to bullet point and word-length requirements ? student’s voice is consistent throughout
D Poor ? source does not meet acceptability criteria; is not clearly relevant to the Report ? suggests partial reading or skimming of the source with a very limited attempt to examine the source; student would likely have to return to the source when writing the Report ? one or more sections are incomplete; elaborations and explanations are mostly superficial or missing in some sections ? summary notes do not conform to bullet point and word-length requirements (e.g., includes full sentences) ? student’s voice is noticeably inconsistent in some sections
F Fail ? source does not meet acceptability criteria; is not clearly relevant to the Report ? suggests very little, if any, reading of the source; student would definitely have to return to the source to write the Report ? most sections are incomplete; elaborations and explanations in the evaluation are obviously superficial or missing in most sections ? summary notes do not show any attempt to conform to requirements (e.g., block text) ? student’s voice is inconsistent in most sections ? egregious plagiarism ? no content
