Formal PowerPoint Presentation on APRN Practice
Purpose: State regulations and requirements for advanced practice nursing vary
widely. You will need to be aware of the regulations and requirements for the state of Georgia. This assignment is intended to make sure you are ready to
meet all legal, certification, and licensure requirements when you complete your
education. In addition, this assignment is designed for you to begin shaping a personal
practice philosophy that will enable you to create a fulfilling and successful APRN
practice.
Task:
1) This assignment is to be completed individually. It will require you to do some research. Review your State Board of Nursing website (Georgia), national certification
associations, State Board of Pharmacy, and any pertinent legislative records necessary to determine the regulations for advanced practice nurse licensure and practice in your state.
2) It must include all of the following:
? Discuss the process for certification through the AANP
? Discuss all the steps required to obtain an APRN license in the Georgia.
? What is your anticipated states and credentialing bodys continuing education
requirements and how do you intend to stay current for the continuing
education requirements for your state and your chosen credentialing body
(AANP)?
? Discuss the legal scope of practice (Nurse Practice Act/Rules and Regulations for APRN) for your intended state and who governs APRN practice in that state. You must also discuss prescriptive authority for controlled and non-controlled prescriptions in your anticipated state of practice and who governs it.
? Discuss whether Georgia is restricted and requires a collaborative agreement, reduced practice, or full practice authority and what those terms mean. (Do not discuss all three; only the one that applies to your state)
? Based on your anticipated states practice authority, answer the question that
will apply to you:
o Restricted Discuss a collaborative agreement and important aspects
that need to be included.
o Reduced Discuss the degree of reduced practice authority in Georgia and if a collaborative agreement is required. Included important aspects that need to be included in a collaborative or reduced practice agreement.
o Full Discuss contract negotiations for employment and important elements that should be included or if plan to have solo practice what is the type of practice and plan for developing the necessary business and financial skills required.
? Discuss your vision for your practice and how you intend to make this vision a
reality. To be sure to include:
o What nursing theorist(s) will you utilize to develop your practice? Why did you choose the particular theorist(s) and how will you utilize the theory?
? Discuss interdisciplinary relationships, choose at a minimum 3 other disciplines you will need to establish a relationship with in order to be successful and your plan for how you will accomplish this?
