Papers for this assignment will be completed in groups of 3-5 students. You may share references but
each person must write and submit their own paper. The purpose of the assignment is to acquaint you with
the characteristics of a specific diagnosis, various theories regarding possible etiology of the diagnosis, how to
differentiate various diagnoses with similar symptoms and what empirically validated or clinically acceptable
treatments are available.
These directions will assist you in producing a quality paper and in receiving full credit.
1) Write a 8-10 page paper in APA style. In addition, include a separate title page and reference page.
The title page must include the title of your paper, your name the course title and number, my name,
and the due date. The reference page must include all references you used in producing your paper.
Use as many professional references from refereed journals or professional books (minimum of 5) as
needed to create a complete and accurate paper. The references must be relevant and at least five
from peer reviewed journals dated no earlier than 2012. The paper must be in APA style (typed and
double-spaced, have a 12 inch Times New Roman font and have 1 inch margins all around, running
head, page numbers, headings, citations, etc).
2) When constructing your paper, include 1) a title page, 2) an abstract or good introductory paragraph,
3) accurate and complete description of the diagnosis you have chosen, 4) basic characteristics of the
diagnosis (prevalence, who is affected, etc), 5) the etiology using the Multipath model, 6) the DSM-V
diagnostic criteria, 7) the differential diagnoses, 8) empirically supported treatments, (including a
detailed description of at least one study demonstrating the effectiveness of a treatment. At least two
references must be an experimental study that demonstrates the efficacy of a treatment for this
particular disorder) and 9) a reference page that includes a full citation and a doi for each article.
3) Your paper will be turned in electronically to D2L.
