For the research paper review assignment, you will review a paper in the database literature about database technology, where a researcher has described a methodology for overcoming a database limitation or constraint. For instance, the paper may address one of the following topics: Speed of retreival Data organization Data integrity Data security Storage capacity Programmability Backup and reliability Etc. For this assignment, you will write a short paper or present a powerpoint presentation. You should cover the following topics: 1. What is the problem or issue being addressed? 2. What is the history of the problem or issue? 3. What new approach or capability is being offered or discussed in the paper? 4. What did the author do, exactly? 5. According to the author, how well did things go? 6. How well do *you* think things went? 7. What do you think the significance of this paper was, and what impact do you think the work will have in the future? If you are writing a paper (or even on slides, but less formally) you need to write this as a technical report. That means you need An abstract An introduction, giving an introduction to the problem and some context to the paper A description of the work A summary of the results A discussion A conclusion A bibliography, even if its a very short one. Works Cited would be fine. I would expect this to be typed and presented nicely, and probably be somewhere between four and 8 pages long, single sided, double spaced.
