Write a 3 – 4 page (note: this means at least 3 full pages) double-spaced paper addressing the following: 
1. Rothwell introduced changes in current society and the workplace in the Preface to the Fifth Edition (pp. xvii~xxv) and reasons to consider succession planning (pp. 15~22). What kinds of macro forces, causes, or any other challenges have you faced in your organization regarding succession planning?  
2. Followed by directions on page xxxiii, take the Advance Organizer (you may post your score if you want to). After sharing the results with others in your organization, write a brief reflection of what you discussed regarding succession planning.
3. After reading the vignettes and the McDonald’s case in pp. 3~8, explain your personal succession planning observation or experience in an organization by applying the characteristics of effective succession planning (pp. 57~62) or common mistakes and missteps to avoid (pp. 62~68). 
4. See the definition of succession planning on page 6. Rothwell tried to distinguish succession planning from replacement planning (see Appendix II pp. 421~426 for more information), workforce planning, talent management, and human capital management (pp. 9~11). Select one term you have observed and experienced in your organization and compare with succession planning based on your own experiences.
