1. The purpose of the assignment is to be evaluate the accuracy of the depiction of mental illness in a movie portrayal.
2. You will choose at least one (1) feature length movie portraying at least one (1) diagnosable mental illness.
Selection of the movie is the students choice. The following website has lists of suggested titles, organized

3. Approval of the movie choice is not required but encouraged if there is any concern about suitability of the choice.
4. For analysis, students should include references to current psychological research relevant to the content of the video. Discussion of how the video is representative of the referenced psychopathology ramifications of the illustrated disorder/behavior must be included. Simply summarizing the movie and/or expression a general opinion of it is not sufficient.
5. The core questions of the assignment are:
a. How accurately does the film portray the depicted mental illness(es)?
b. What facets of the disorder were displayed particularly well or most noticeably absent?
c. How might the characters presentation change with a more correct disorder profile?
d. How did the depiction(s) make you feel? Were you able to identify/empathize with the character?
