Find a news article that relates to a hazard, such as; one that addresses how air (e.g., pollution), food (e.g., Salmonella, E.coli), water (e.g., industrial waste), soil (e.g., animal waste contamination), manufactured items (e.g., lead in cooking utensils), or physical structures (e.g., asbestos) may affect the health of individuals or it can be an issue that affects the groups health. Find a news article about a hazard and/or issue, using a public health lens, identify the social, economic, and political factors that contribute to health and disease outcomes associated with that hazard or issue. Keep a copy of the article as you may be using this article to write a letter to a public official for your advocacy assignment. You should be able to relate just about any environmental topic to population health.
